Aut[odidactic]ism and Asperger’s

Autodidacticism (also autodidactism) or self-education is the act of self-directed learning about a subject or subjects in which one has had little to no formal education.

Is there a connection to HFA / Asperger’s and being Autodidactic? We believe there is.

I believe it is a touch of both madness and giftedness which allows us too search endlessly for new knowledge, immersing ourselves with all of our senses, even the ones science has yet to admit exist.

Even able to adapt readily our position on any subject when presented with new information which proves the previous understanding illusory or at best incomplete.

The thirst for knowledge has never been quenched in my mother, myself nor my daughter.

A school atmosphere supresses her creativity and genius tremendously while overloading her senses and creating turmoil within her tiny body and mind.

I have applied to educate her at home using an Eclectic approach, what she needs are resources and freedom.

I was told I was making a mistake by the school… I disagree and I say, set her free and watch her fly.

This blog will follow her journey, and one day she will be able to see all she has accomplished and all of the support she has.
