Sophia helps with the planning, dance rehearsal, sign making and other bits for this event we have held since 2013 to help call for an end to violence against women and girls worldwide. 2015 was an amazing year even though most of the planning was blur as I had a concussion.
This year we were part of over 200 countries that participated and over one billion people danced for this cause on or around Feb 14th and we were a part of it once again.
Sophia and daddy were on the front page today!
and inside on page 4. This is from our One Billion Rising event on Saturday.
Other News articles about this event:
This was our third year planning this event, and we had a great turnout and some amazing participation by local organizations; The Women’s Network Wanganui, Jigsaw, Autism New Zealand Wanganui, Association of Midwives and Porse Educators. Musicians; Daniel Harding, Logan Anderson and Amy-Rei and The Shadowers, even Laila and Nikki Harre did a talk along their Re-Think the System tour. Special thanks to Gail Imhoff Photography and the Men of White Ribbon Wanganui for your support.
As always, we had the Women’s Network Manager Carla Donson as DJ and Hostess, as well as the Women’s Network committee (of which I am a member.) who helped us set up and had a sausage sizzle with all proceeds going to the Women’s Network. As well as sponsorship by Wanganui Toyota, Mint Cafe, Karen Goodge Jewellery Design, Natural Healing Centre and others. We are so grateful to all of the helpers, runners and rafflers.
This was a great team effort and Brent always keeps Sophia and I stable on these events.
Our friends come out to help and we had lots of bubbles, face-painting and colouring contests, raffles and of course music and dancing.
And of course, our several Break The Chain flash mob dances throughout the day.
